Kayla Maughan and David Rodrigues Killed in Fredericksburg Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 16

Fredericksburg, Texas (July 29, 2021) – The two people who were killed Saturday night in a head-on collision in Fredericksburg have been identified as Kayla Maughan,27, and David Rodrigues, 38, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The fatal crash happened around 9:12 p.m., July 24, on State Highway 16.

Police said Rodrigues was driving a pickup truck southbound on the highway when he crashed head-on into a northbound minivan.

Both Rodrigues and Maughan, who was the front-seat passenger in the minivan, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Maughan’s husband, who was driving the minivan, and their two children, who were in the back seat, were airlifted to San Antonio hospitals in unknown conditions.

The Fredericksburg Police Department is investigating the crash.
