Kayla Terral Killed and Michael Solis Seriously Injured in Hall County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 256

Hall County, Texas (November 16, 2022) – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured early Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Hall County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:00 a.m., November 15, on State Highway 256.

DPS said a 2002 Toyota Corolla was in the westbound lane of the highway due to a previous crash with a deer. The Toyota’s hazard lights were flashing.

A 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Charles Gipson, 71, was traveling westbound.

The Toyota driver, 25-year-old Kayla Terral, of Pasadena, and two passengers, 26-year-old Michael Solis, of Pasadena, and Gladys Galvan, 26, of Pasadena, began to get out of the vehicle to head toward the ditch in order to avoid a possible collision with the Caravan.

The Caravan driver saw the flashing hazard lights but did not realize the Toyota was stopped on the road until it was too late. The driver hit the brakes and swerved hard to the right to avoid a crash, but the left side of the Caravan sideswiped the right side of the Toyota.

Solis, who was the front seat passenger, was not able to get out completely of the Toyota and was hit by the Caravan.

The Toyota driver, Terral, was also hit as she tried to run for the ditch.

Galvan made it safely into the ditch and was uninjured in the crash.

Gipson was uninjured in the crash.

Terral was pronounced dead at the scene. Solis was taken to a Lubbock hospital with serious injuries.

The TxDPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
