Killeen, Texas (February 20, 2023) – A 28-year-old man was killed on Saturday in a dirt bike crash in Killeen, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 6:46 p.m., February 18, at the intersection of Westcliff Road at Moonlight Drive.

Police said Lamar Lavance Lilly was riding a dirt bike eastbound on Westcliff Road at a high rate of speed when a Mercedes traveling westbound began to turn southbound onto Moonlight Drive.

Lilly crashed into the side of the Mercedes and was ejected from the bike. He was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he later died.

Officers said Lilly was on the road illegally at the time of the crash with no lights on and was not wearing a helmet. The dirt bike was reportedly stolen out of Nolanville.

The KPD Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
