Laura Sanders ID’d as Woman Killed in Amarillo Crash at SE 3rd Avenue and Buchanan Street

Amarillo, Texas (March 19, 2023) – The Amarillo Police Department has identified the woman who died on Friday night following a traffic accident in downtown Amarillo has been identified as Laura Sanders, 42.

The deadly crash happened at about 7:28 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the intersection of SE 3rd Avenue and Buchanan Street.

Amarillo police said a man was driving a GMC Pickup eastbound on SE 3rd Avenue at a high rate of speed, approaching Buchanan Street, when he allegedly ran a red light at Buchanan Street and struck a Ford sedan heading northbound on Buchanan Street.

Sanders, who was driving the Ford, was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The GMC driver was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating the crash.
