Lauro Escobar Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 287 in Sherman County

Lauro Escobar Killed in Sherman County Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Highway 287 near Stratford

Sherman County, Texas (July 27, 2020) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning in Sherman County near Stratford, according to DPS.

The deadly accident happened at about 12:30 a.m., July 25, on Highway 287.

DPS said Lauro Escobar, 35, of Sunray, had parked his Dodge Ram on the northbound shoulder of the highway and was attempting to change a flat tire when a driver failed to maintain a single lane and hit him.

That driver fled the scene.

Escobar was declared dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Dumas Highway Patrol Office at (806) 935-5908.
