Lt. Jared Snell Killed in Cleveland Crash at State Highway 105 and County Road 2266

Cleveland, Texas (August 10, 2019) – A Atascocita firefighter was killed in a head-on crash Friday night at a Cleveland intersection, according to the officials.

The fatal crash happened around 8:00 p.m. August 9, at the intersection of State Highway 105 and County Road 2266.

Officials said a transport truck loaded with barrels was heading westbound while Lt. Jared Snell, who was on his way home, was heading eastbound.

Snell then attempted to pass another vehicle and crashed head-on with an 18-wheeler.

Snell’s vehicle caught fire on impact. He was killed in the blaze.

Hazmat crews responded to the scene to clean the debris, barrels and diesel fuel that had spilled.

The big rig driver sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
