Lydia Lopez Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Zenith Avenue in Lubbock

52-Year-Old Lydia Lopez Killed in Lubbock Pedestrian Accident on Zenith Avenue

Lubbock, Texas (May 7, 2020) – A woman on a motorized wheelchair was fatally hit by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in East Lubbock, according to police.

The deadly accident occurred around 3:15 p.m. May 6, in 1900 block of East 1st Place.

Police said a vehicle was heading southbound on Zenith Avenue when it struck Lydia Lopez, 52, who was in her motorized wheelchair.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident.

Lopez was taken to University Medical Center, where she later died.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
