Man Killed and Woman Injured in Harris County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 249; Donnovan Garcia Arrested

Harris County, Texas (September 5, 2021) – According to the authorities, a man was killed, and a woman was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Harris County.

The fatal crash happened around 12:50 p.m., September 3, in the 11600 block of State Highway 249.

Authorities said a man was driving a pickup truck southbound at a high rate of speed when he failed to maintain a single lane, crossed into the northbound lane, and struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was stopped at a red light.

The male passenger in the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The Chevrolet driver, a woman, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The pickup driver, Donnovan Garcia, was found to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has been charged with intoxication, manslaughter, and aggravated assault.

The crash remains under investigation.
