Marc Thomason and Beth Thomason Killed in Midland County Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

Midland County, Texas (April 9, 2020) – The two people who were killed Tuesday afternoon in a semi-truck accident in Midland County have been identified as Marc Thomason 55, and Beth Thomason 62, both of Florida, according to officials.

The fatal crash was reported around 2:47 p.m. April 7, in the 1900 block of East IH-20 near Lamesa overpass.

Authorities said a white F-250 was traveling westbound in the outside lane at a slow speed because of traffic jam near the overpass. A blue garbage truck was also traveling at a slow speed behind the pickup. A blue Kenworth truck tractor with a trailer was traveling westbound in the outside lane approaching the traffic jam.

The driver of the semi-truck attempted to change lanes to avoid hitting the garbage truck but ended up hitting the left corner of the back of the garbage truck. The force of the impact caused the garbage truck to hit the pick-up truck.

The garbage truck spun sideways and rolled onto its top.

The driver and passenger of the Kenworth, Marc, and Beth, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the garbage truck and the F-250 were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Marc Thomason and Beth Thomason.

Who May Make a Wrongful Death Claim in Texas?

A wrongful death claim for a family member may be brought by spouses, children or parents. The State of Texas also allows the estate of the deceased to bring a survival action to recover for past medical expenses and conscious pain and suffering, as well as other non-economic damages which the deceased may have suffered before death. Texas does not permit brothers, sisters, cousins, or grandparents to assert any claims for the death of a family member.

Wrongful death claims require an attorney who understands the complexity of the damages caused by a significant loss. The lawyer representing the client has the responsibility to hire the necessary experts to help prove the case.
