Marcos Calderon Killed in North Austin Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 183 at Jamestown Drive

Austin, Texas (June 26, 2020) – The passenger who was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in North Austin has been identified as 23-year-old Marcos Calderon, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 6:27 p.m., June 21, on U.S. Highway 183 service road at Jamestown Drive.

Police said a green 2002 Chevrolet was traveling northbound on the highway when a silver 1998 Honda pulled into the service road from Jamestown Drive.

The Honda entered the center lane into the path of the Chevrolet, and the vehicles collided. The impact caused the Chevrolet to veer off the roadway, and it continued across dirt and gravel before hitting a concrete bridge support.

Calderon, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet, was killed in the crash.

The other occupants in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

The Honda driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-8544.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Marcos Calderon.

Who May Make a Wrongful Death Claim in Texas?

A wrongful death claim for a family member may be brought by spouses, children or parents. The State of Texas also allows the estate of the deceased to bring a survival action to recover for past medical expenses and conscious pain and suffering, as well as other non-economic damages which the deceased may have suffered before death. Texas does not permit brothers, sisters, cousins, or grandparents to assert any claims for the death of a family member.

Wrongful death claims require an attorney who understands the complexity of the damages caused by a significant loss. The lawyer representing the client has the responsibility to hire the necessary experts to help prove the case.
