Maria Rodriguez Killed and Javier Rodriguez Injured in Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash on Avenue Q

Lubbock, Texas (October 19, 2021) – The woman who was injured on October 8 in a two-vehicle crash in Lubbock has died, according to the police. 

The crash happened just after 3:30 p.m., in the 4400 block of Avenue Q.

Police said Javier Rodriguez, 32, was driving an SUV southbound while Danny Bonilla, 60, was driving an SUV northbound.

Rodriguez attempted to turn onto a private drive on the eastbound side, and the two vehicles collided.

Javier and Maria Rodriguez, 70, were taken to University Medical Center for treatment. Officers were notified that Maria had succumbed to her injuries on October 15.

Bonilla was uninjured in the crash.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
