Mark Helbert Killed in Odessa Motorcycle Crash at Grant Avenue and Monahans Street; Steven Ramos Arrested

Odessa, Texas (September 2, 2022) – According to the police, a motorcyclist was killed on August 23 in a hit-and-run accident in Odessa.

The deadly crash happened around 10:51 p.m., at the intersection of S. Grant Avenue and Monahans Street.

Police said Mark Helbert, 33, of San Antonio, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on S. Grant Avenue while Steven Ramos, 21, of Odessa, was driving a maroon Toyota Camry westbound on Monahans Street.

Ramos failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and collided with the motorcycle.

Helbert was taken to Medical Center Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

Ramos fled the scene but was later located and arrested for failure to stop and render aid. Additional charges are expected.

The police are investigating the crash.
