Marlon McDaniel and Hollis McDaniel ID’d as 2 Victims Killed in Tyler County Crash on U.S. Highway 69 near Recreational Road 255

Tyler County, Texas (October 19, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the two people who were killed Monday morning in a traffic accident in Tyler County.

Marlon McDaniel, 46 and his passenger Hollis McDaniel, 45, both of Woodville, died in the crash that happened at around 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, on U.S. Highway 69, just south of Recreational Road 255, near Colmesneil.

DPS said a Chevrolet Silverado was heading northbound on U.S. Highway 69 when the driver crossed over into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Spark that was traveling southbound, driven by Marlon McDaniel

Marlon McDaniel and his passenger, Hollis McDaniel, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Silverado, identified as Don Houston, 61, of Lufkin, was transported to Woodland Heights with non-life-threatening injuries.

Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
