Shaun Copeland Killed in North Harris County Hit-and-Run Car Crash on Lauder Road

Harris County, Texas (January 5, 2020) – One person was killed Friday night in an alleged hit-and-run crash in north Harris County, according to the deputies.

The fatal crash occurred around 8:00 p.m. on January 3, in the 4700 block of Lauder Road.

Deputies said Shaun Copeland, 34, of Fort Bend County, was driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe when he was rear-ended by a grey Chevy SUV.

The impact caused the Tahoe to roll into a ditch, ejecting Copeland, who was not wearing a seatbelt. 

Copeland was declared dead at the scene. 

The SUV fled the scene after the accident. It was last seen heading eastbound on Lauder towards Eastex Freeway. The front bumper of the truck came off before the driver left the scene.

The authorities are looking for the suspect and the SUV.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
