Michael Joe King Killed in Odessa Pedestrian Accident at 42nd and Grandview; Christy Contreras Arrested

Odessa, Texas (March 23, 2022) – One person was killed Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Odessa, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 7:00 a.m., on March 22, at the intersection of E. 42nd and N. Grandview.

Police said Michael Joe, 28, was standing in the left turn lane of the 1900 block of E. 42nd street when he was struck by a red eastbound Toyota Corolla. The Corolla fled the scene after the crash, turning northbound on N. Grandview.

Joe was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Corolla driver, 25-year-old Christy Contreras, was later arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. She has been charged with an accident involving death.

The police are investigating the crash.
