Julian Murillo and Gabrial Marmolejo Killed in Austin Three-Vehicle Crash at Cameron Road and East Anderson Lane

Austin, Texas (July 29, 2020) – Two teenagers were killed early Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash in North Austin, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred just before 3:30 a.m., July 24, at the intersection of Cameron Road and East Anderson Lane.

Police said a 2018 black Nissan Versa, which had been reported stolen on July 2, was heading northbound in the 7600 block of Cameron Road while a box truck was traveling westbound in the center lane of the 1500 block of the E. Anderson Lane. A 2008 gold Chevrolet Malibu was stopped facing southbound at a red light in the 7700 block of Cameron Road. 

The Nissan driver ran a red light and was struck by the box truck, which entered the intersection with a green light. The impact caused the Nissan to crash into the Chevrolet. 

One of the Nissan occupants was ejected. Both occupants were declared dead at the scene. They have been identified as Julian Murillo, 15, and Gabrial Marmolejo, 16.

The Chevrolet driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
