Michael Mayes Identified as Man Killed in I-35 Pedestrian Crash in Austin

Austin, Texas (May 10, 2019) – The man who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Tuesday morning in Austin has been identified as Michael Mayes, 50, according to Austin police.
The incident happened at about 2:52 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, on Interstate 35 near Cesar Chavez Street.
Police said Mayes was trying to cross I-35 near the 100 block when a southbound vehicle hit him.
Mayes was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene and rendered aid
The crash is under investigation.
