Moped Driver Killed in Crash on I-10 in Chambers County

One Killed in Chambers County Moped Crash on Interstate 10 near Winnie

Chambers County, Texas (February 28, 2023) – According to the Texas DPS, a moped driver was killed Monday morning in a crash in Chambers County.

The fatal crash happened around 5:49 a.m., February 27, on Interstate Highway 10, near the 823-mile marker.

DPS said a Vespa moped was traveling westbound when it was rear-ended by a 2019 Dodge pickup truck.

The impact threw the rider from the moped, and was then struck by a westbound 2008 Ford SUV.

The moped driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

The pickup truck driver, 36-year-old David Crosby of Alabama, and one passenger were uninjured in the crash.

The SUV driver, 39-year-old Jere Norbert of Port Arthur, was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
