Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on North MoPac Expressway in Austin

One Killed in Austin Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Crash on North MoPac Expressway

Austin, Texas (September 14, 2023) – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night in a hit-and-run accident in Austin, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 9:44 p.m., September 9, in the 10500 block of North MoPac Expressway SB.

Police said a pickup truck crashed into a guardrail, scattering debris across the roadway. A motorcyclist was traveling southbound when they struck the debris, causing the motorcycle to topple leaving the rider on the roadway. Another pickup truck struck the motorcyclist and fled the scene.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

No other details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation. The Austin Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide unit is urging anyone with information to contact them at 512-974-8111. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. Information leading to an arrest could be rewarded with up to $1,000.
