Rider Seriously Injured in Midland Motorcycle Crash on Midkiff; Justin Williamson Arrested

Midland, Texas (March 10, 2021) – According to authorities, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the Sunday afternoon hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist seriously injured in Midland.

The accident happened at about 4:30 p.m., March 7, in the 1000 block of N. Midkiff.

Authorities said a motorcycle was traveling southbound in the outside lane while a grey Dodge Ram 1500 truck was traveling northbound in the center turn lane.

The Dodge began turning westbound into a private drive and failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle, resulting in a collision.

The Dodge driver, Justin Williamson, fled the scene after the crash.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Williamson was arrested on Tuesday after a Crime Stopper’s tip led police to him. He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury.

The police are investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
