Nathan Lugo ID’d as Man Killed in Lynn County Crash on U.S. 87 near O’Donnell

Lynn County, Texas (May 4, 2022) – Authorities have identified the man who died Tuesday in a traffic collision in Lynn County as Nathan Villanueva Lugo, 21, of Gail.

The deadly crash took place on U.S. 87 near O’Donnell on May 3.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a semi-truck, driven by a Lubbock man, was heading northbound on U.S. 87 in the outside lane while a Jeep Renegade, driven by Lugo, was stopped on the northbound shoulder and facing northbound.

The driver of the semi-truck changed into the inside lane when coming towards the Jeep. As the semi-truck got nearer the Jeep, Lugo made a U-turn in front of the semi-truck. Both vehicles eventually collided.

Lugo was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the semi did not suffer any injuries.

No further details about the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
