Nicole Vidales Killed in DWI Crash on General McMullen in San Antonio

Nicole Vidales ID’d as 8-Year-Old Girl Killed in San Antonio Crash on General McMullen at West Commerce

San Antonio, Texas (December 29, 2022) – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 8-year-old girl who died Thursday evening in a DUI crash in San Antonio as Nicole Marae Vidales.

The fatal crash happened at around 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, at North General McMullen and West Commerce.

Police said Marae’s mother, 34-year-old Nicole Ovalle, was driving a blue Dodge Journey when she hopped the curb and struck a red Nissan Pathfinder.

Vidales, who was in the back seat of the Journey, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ovalle, an adult passenger, and another child in the blue car were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities determined that Ovalle was intoxicated at the time of the crash. She was arrested and booked into jail on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

Two people in the red Nissan were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

No further details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
