Kyle Stephenson and Odell Giggs Jr. ID’d as Two Drivers Killed in Jones County Crash on U.S. 277

Jones County, Texas (May 19, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety officials have identified the two drivers who died following a head-on collision Thursday morning in Jones County as Kyle Stephenson, 64, of Abilene, and Odell Giggs Jr.

The deadly crash happened between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Thursday, May 18 on U.S. 277 around mile marker 312.

DPS said Stephenson was driving northbound in the southbound lanes when he collided head-on with a southbound vehicle driven by Giggs.

Stephenson and Giggs were killed in the crash. A passenger in Giggs’ vehicle, Rafailita Segura, 40, was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with incapacitating injuries and was listed in critical condition.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
