San Antonio, Texas (July 2, 2022) – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Bureau has identified the motorcyclist who died Wednesday morning in a collision with a big rig in San Antonio’s South Side as Noel Zapata, 41.

The deadly crash took place on June 29 on Highway 16 at Southwest Loop 410, which is near Palo Alto College.

Authorities said Zapata was riding his motorcycle and was trying to beat the light that had turned red at the intersection. He was then struck by a big rig that was turning left from the Loop 410 access road to Highway 16.

The motorcycle became lodged under the truck, and Zapata was dragged through the intersection. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash closed both directions of the underpass at Highway 16 and Loop 410.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
