Officer Injured in DUI Crash at Lancaster Avenue and Oakland Boulevard in Fort Worth

Fort Worth Police Officer Seriously Injured in Fort Worth Crash at Lancaster Avenue and Oakland Boulevard

Fort Worth, Texas (August 4, 2022) – An officer with Fort Worth Police Department was seriously injured in an alleged DUI crash Wednesday night in Fort Worth, according to authorities.

The wreck occurred at about 11:17 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, in the 3700 block of East Lancaster Avenue at Oakland Boulevard

A Fort Worth Police Department unit was responding to a call and was heading westbound on East Lancaster Avenue with its lights and sirens turned on.

The patrol SUV was passing a vehicle when the suspect failed to yield and turned directly into the pathway of the patrol vehicle. The civilian vehicle ultimately struck the patrol vehicle.

After the crash, the patrol vehicle veered off the road and slammed into a tree.

The officer was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extracted by firefighters. The officer was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in an unknown condition.

The suspect fled the scene but was later arrested by authorities a short distance away. The suspect, whose name was not immediately disclosed, faces charges of intoxication assault and leaving the scene of an accident.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
