Dallas, Texas – A woman was fatally hit by a van Thursday morning in Dallas, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened just after 1:00 a.m., in the 9500 block of I-635 near the Skillman Street exit ramp.

Police said the woman was driving eastbound in the far right lane of the highway when she drove between two temporary construction barriers, hit a plastic barrier, and veered back onto the freeway. She parked in the second to right lane and exited her vehicle. She was struck by an eastbound van, as she was standing in the doorway of her vehicle.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The van driver remained at the scene after the accident.

The crash closed a portion of all the eastbound lanes of I-635.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
