One Dead in Car Accident on Mearns Meadow Boulevard in North Austin

1 Killed in North Austin Two-Vehicle Crash on Mearns Meadow Boulevard and Rutland Drive

Austin, Texas (February 10, 2020) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Monday morning at a North Austin intersection, according to the police.

The fatal crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. in the area of Mearns Meadow Boulevard and Rutland Drive.

Police said a vehicle was heading westbound on Rutland Drive when it ran a stop sign and broadsided another vehicle that was heading northbound on Mearns Meadow Boulevard.

Both vehicles came to a stop in the grass near the roadway.

The driver whose vehicle was broadsided was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver who ran the red light was detained at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
