One Killed, 7 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Almeda Road at Reed Road in Southwest Houston

1 Killed and Seven Injured in Southwest Houston Six-Vehicle Crash at Almeda Road and Reed Road

Houston, Texas (May 5, 2020) – One person was killed, and several others were injured Monday afternoon in a suspected DUI crash in southwest Houston, according to police.

The fatal crash happened just before 4:00 p.m. May 4, at the intersection of Almeda Road and Reed Road.

Police said several vehicles were stopped at a railroad crossing light at the intersection when a cream-colored Cadillac rear-ended one of the vehicles at a high rate of speed, causing a chain reaction. A total of six vehicles were involved in the crash.

A man was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Seven other people, including the Cadillac driver, were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The Cadillac driver was believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
