Orlin Santos Killed in Head-On Collision on U.S. 287 in Anderson County

Orlin Santos ID’d as 1 of 2 Victims In Fatal Anderson County Crash on U.S. 287 near Elkhart

Anderson County, Texas (May 26, 2022) – Authorities have identified one of the two people who died on Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle, head-on collision near Elkhart in Anderson County as Orlin Santos, 29.

The deadly crash was reported to the Texas Department of Public Safety at around 7:00 a.m. on May 25 on U.S. 287, approximately 0.2 miles north of Elkhart.

DPS said Santos, a resident of Houston, was driving a 2011 Kia Forte northbound on U.S. 287 when he drifted into the opposite lane, where his vehicle collided head-on with a southbound 2020 Jeep Rubicon driven by Shanna E. Green, 51, of Grapeland.

Santos and his 17-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Green was transported to Palestine Regional Medical Center in stable condition.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
