Osbaldo Sanchez Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-45 in Montgomery County

Osbaldo Sanchez Injured in Montgomery County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 45

Montgomery County, Texas (August 6, 2021) – Two people were killed, and three others were injured early Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash in south Montgomery County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened around 1:40 a.m., August 1, on Interstate 45, a mile south of Oak Ridge.

DPS said a 2006 Acura TSX was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it crashed head-on into a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500.

The driver of the Acura, Kourtney Yakiyah Hawkins, 26, of Houston, and a passenger in the Dodge, Nely Martinez, 22, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge driver, Osbaldo Sanchez, 21, from Huntsville, was taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe in serious condition.

Two other passengers in the Dodge, a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old, were taken to local hospitals in critical condition.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice.
