Central Texas Cafe Founder Oscar Valdez ID’d as Victim Killed in Moody Crash on Highway 317

Moody, Texas (November 18, 2022) – The person who died on Wednesday afternoon in a crash between a train and a vehicle in Moody has been identified as Oscar Valdez, the founder of Lucy’s Cafe in Moody.

The deadly crash happened on Highway 317, just north of downtown Moody on Wednesday, November 16.

According to the Moody Police Department, an Amtrak Texas Eagle Train was en route between McGregor and Temple when it struck a vehicle, driven by Valdez.

Valdez died in the crash.

No other details regarding the crash were immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
