Man Killed in Hockley County Pedestrian Accident on Highway 114

Hockley County, Texas (July 3, 2020) – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Hockley County, according to DPS.

The deadly accident happened on July 2, on Highway 114, about two miles from Opdyke West.

DPS said the man’s 2007 Chevy Silverado had broken down on the eastbound shoulder of the highway, and he was transferring items to a waiting vehicle.

The man stepped onto the roadway and was hit by a 2003 Ford F350 pickup truck. He was declared dead at the scene.

The waiting vehicle next to the man’s truck fled the scene.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
