7-Year-Old Child Critically Injured in Dallas Pedestrian Accident on Skillman Street near Leisure Drive
Dallas, Texas (January 14, 2019) – A child was struck and injured by a vehicle Monday morning in the Lake Highlands neighbourhood of Dallas, authorities said.
The accident occurred in the 9300 block of Skillman Street near Leisure Drive.
According to the authorities, a 7-year-old child was attempting to cross Skillman Street to get to their bus stop with several other children who had made it to a median when he stepped off the median and darted into the street.
The young student was then hit by a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old teacher who authorities believe was traveling under the speed limit.
The child was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. His name has not been disclosed.
Motorists traveling in the area were urged to seek an alternate route.
