Pedro Roman-Abarca Killed in 2-Car Accident on Interstate 35 in San Marcos

Pedro Roman-Abarca ID’d as Man Killed in San Marcos Car Crash on Interstate 35 near Highway 123
San Marcos, Texas (May 5, 2019) – Authorities have identified the man who was killed Friday night in a two-car accident in San Marcos.
Pedro Roman-Abarca, 68, died in the accident that occurred at about 10:45 p.m. Friday, May 3 near Interstate 35 and the Highway 123 overpass.
According to the authorities, a 2014 Ford F150 was traveling southbound in the center lane of Interstate 35 while a 2010 Honda driven by Pedro Roman-Abarca, 68, was heading southbound in the left lane of Interstate 35 and overtake the Ford.
Roman-Abarca lost control of the vehicle as it was raining heavily and the Honda hit the center concrete divider. The Honda then spun back into the lane of traffic and into the path of the Ford.
The Ford hit the Honda on the driver’s side and propelled the Honda back into the concrete divider.
Roman-Abarca was transported to Central Texas Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.  Enedina Roman, 62, who was a passenger in the Honda, was transported to Seton Medical Center Hays in Kyle and underwent surgery. The extent of her injuries at this time remained unknown.
The Ford driver was not injured.
The interstate was shut down for around two hours following the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
