Phillip James Messler Killed in Amarillo Pedestrian Accident on Amarillo Boulevard

Amarillo, Texas (January 28, 2021) – A man was killed Monday evening in a hit-and-run accident in north Amarillo, according to police.

The deadly accident happened around 11:17 p.m., January 25, in the 1400 block of Amarillo Boulevard East.

Police said Phillip James Messler, 43, of Pampa, was lying in the roadway when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The vehicle described as a dark-colored SUV with damage to the front end, fled the scene.

Messler was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department is investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Traffic Unit at (806) 378-4250 or the Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400.
