Phyllis Michalak ID’d as Woman Killed in Coupland Car Crash at FM 973 and Richland Road

Coupland, Texas (January 15, 2019) – The woman who was killed in a two-vehicle collision at an intersection near Coupland on Saturday night has been identified by the authorities.
Phyllis Michalak died in the crash that was reported at about 9 p.m. January 12 at the FM 973 and Richland Road intersection.
DPS said Michalak was driving northbound on FM 973 when she tried to pass another car and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
The impact caused both vehicles to roll over and caught fire.
Michalak was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It’s unclear whether there were other injuries in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
