Rebecca Cedillo Killed in Kerrville Drag Racing Accident at Kerrville Aviation

Kerrville, Texas (October 28, 2021) – According to the authorities, a third person has died following the drag racing accident that happened on Saturday in Kerrville County.

The victim has been identified as Rebecca Cedillo, 46, of Converse.

The fatal crash happened around 3:20 p.m., October 23, at a racing event on a runway at the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport, about 65 miles northwest of San Antonio.

Authorities said Michael Gonzales, 34, was racing his 1990 Ford Mustang when he lost control halfway down the 1/8-mile track laid out on one of the airport runways, turned to the left, entered into a slide, and struck spectators before hitting a trailer.

Daniel Trujillo-Jones, 6, was killed in the accident. His father, Chance Jones, was airlifted to an Austin hospital in critical condition. Jones’ girlfriend, Katy Walls, was taken to a San Antonio hospital with leg and pelvis injuries. Daniel’s two younger siblings, ages 4-year-old and 3-month old, were taken to the hospital where they were treated and have since been released.

A fundraiser for the family will be posted on this website.

Cedillo was taken to University Hospital in San Antonio, where she later died.

Gonzales was also taken to the hospital.

The police are investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
