Rene Cardona and Angelina Romero Killed, Luis Flores Injured in Ector County Two-Vehicle Crash on IH-20

Ector County, Texas (November 10, 2023) – Two people were killed and another was injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash in Ector County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened on November 8, on the IH-20 service road near mile marker 106.

DPS said 35-year-old Rene Cardona Jr., was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on the service road while Luis Flores, 69, was driving a 2020 Hino truck westbound in the outside lane.

Cardena lost control, crossed over into the westbound lane, and collided with Flores.

Cardena and a passenger in the Hino truck, 52-year-old Passenger Angelina Romero, were taken to Medical Center Hospital where they later died.

Flores was taken to Medical Center Hospital in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
