Ricardo Torres Killed in Donna Motorcycle Crash on Business Highway 83 near Val Verde Road

Donna, Texas (June 15, 2023) – A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in a crash in Donna, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 6:37 a.m., June 14, on Business Highway 83, west of Val Verde Road.

Police said Freddy Lerma,33, of Alamo, attempted to turn into the Val Verde Flea Market and failed to yield the right of way to a motorcycle, resulting in a collision.

The motorcyclist, 41-year-old Ricardo Torres of Donna, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the truck was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Lerma was uninjured in the crash. He was taken into custody on an intoxication manslaughter charge.

The police are investigating the crash.
