Richard Salter Killed in Austin Multi-Vehicle Crash on FM 1431

Austin, Texas (July 17, 2020) – Two people, including a professional boxer, were killed Wednesday night in a head-on collision in Austin, a local news source reported.

The deadly crash happened around 9:34 p.m. July 15, in the 18000 block of FM 1431 near the Austin suburb of Cedar Park.

DPS said Travell ‘Black Magic’ Mazion, 24, an Austin native, was driving a Cadillac STS when he crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into two other cars, including a Honda.

Mazion was declared dead at the scene. He was a rising Junior Middleweight and was unbeaten with a 17-0 record. He was just nine days shy of his 25th birthday at the time of the crash.

The Honda driver, 61-year-old Richard Salter, of Lago Vista, was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

One other person was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
