Robert Leon Richardson Killed in Van Zandt County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 19

Van Zandt County, Texas (January 12, 2021) – A man was killed, and another was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Van Zandt County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:40 a.m., January 11, on State Highway 19, east of Edgewood.

According to a preliminary investigation, Robert Leon Richardson, 52, of Grand Saline, was driving northbound on the highway when he went into a side-skid due to ice on the roadway, crossed the center stripe into the southbound lane, and crashed into a pickup truck.

Richardson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver, Donald Harold Treadway, of Edgewood, was taken to Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
