Robert Solly Killed, Moriel Williams Injured in Jasper County Two-Vehicle Crash at US 96 and CR 784

Jasper County, Texas (May 5, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash that happened on May 1 in Jasper County, according to DPS.

The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of US 96 and CR 784, south of Buna.

DPS said a 2002 Buick Century driven by 76-year-old Robert Solly of Newton was stopped on CR 784 while a 2020 Cadillac passenger vehicle driven by 37-year-old Moriel Williams of Shreveport, Louisiana, was heading northbound on US 96.

Solly failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, and the Cadillac struck the driver-side of the Buick.

Solly was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries where he succumbed to his injuries on May 3.

Williams was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released from the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
