Ryan Solar Killed in Corpus Christi Two-Vehicle Crash on South Padre Island Drive near Paul Jones

Corpus Christi, Texas (July 20, 2021) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash in Corpus Christi, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 7:20 p.m., July 18, on South Padre Island Drive (Highway 358) near Paul Jones Avenue.

Police said two vehicles were traveling westbound when one of the drivers drove in front of the other and hit the brakes. 

Both vehicles went off the roadway and flipped over after colliding.

Two people in one of the vehicles were ejected. The front passenger, 45-year-old Ryan Solar, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 36-year-old man, and the rear passenger, a 33-year-old man, were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the first vehicle was suspected of being under the influence of an intoxicating substance other than alcohol and may face charges after the case is presented to the District Attorney’s Office.

The second driver, Nicholas Guerrero, 22, was also found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and marijuana and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. He did not cause the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.
