Samara Johnson Killed in Comanche Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 2247

Comanche, Texas (July 21, 2023) – A person was killed Tuesday evening in a head-on collision 6.2 miles north of Comanche, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened just after 8:00 p.m., July 18, on FM 2247.

Authorities said a Dodge truck was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of the highway around a curve as a Ford Explorer approached the curve.

The Dodge driver steered back into the southbound lane, and the driver of the Ford steered toward the southbound lane in an attempt to avoid the truck, resulting in a head-on collision in the middle of the road.

The Ford driver, 21-year-old Samara Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver and passenger of the Dodge were taken to Hendrick North Hospital. The driver had incapacitating injuries but was listed in stable condition, and the passenger had non-incapacitating injuries and was treated and released. Both were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
