Michael Wayne Allen Parrish Killed in Austin Bicycle Accident on I-35 near VFW Road

Austin, Texas (November 4, 2020) – The bicyclist who was killed in a hit-and-run crash last month in north Austin has been identified as Michael Wayne Allen Parrish, 26, according to police.

The deadly accident happened just after 11:00 p.m., October 22, in the 12100 block of North I-35 frontage road.

Police said Parrish was riding a bicycle in the far right section of the road when he was struck by a 2008 Ford F-350.

The Ford driver continued driving before turning on Tech Ridge Boulevard, where he stopped in front of a QT gas station and fled on foot.

Parrish was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

An investigation is underway. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-6935. Tips can also be submitted by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free.
