Samuel Mixon Dies in Car Crash at 41st Street and Avenue O in Galveston

Samuel Mixon Killed in Galveston Two-Vehicle Crash at 41st Street and Avenue O

Galveston, Texas (September 17, 2022) – A second teen has died following a two-vehicle crash that left another teen dead, and three others injured earlier this month in Galveston, according to the police.

Samuel Mixon was pronounced dead on Friday morning, September 16.

The fatal crash happened around 6:00 p.m., September 2, at the intersection of 41st Street and Avenue O, across from Galveston Ball High School.

Authorities said Keith Brazier, 28, was driving an SUV when he ran a red light at the intersection at a high rate of speed and broadsided a Jeep occupied by Mason Nelson, 14, an adult, and three fellow Ball High School students.

Nelson was killed in the crash.

Four passengers, including Mixon, were taken to the hospital, where Mixon later died.

Brazier was arrested and charged with the murder and was taken to custody on a $500,000 bond.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
