Sandra Gonzalez and Herlinda Guerrero Killed in Lamb County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 385

Lamb County, Texas (May 6, 2023) – Two people were killed, and two others were injured Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision in Lamb County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 1:40 p.m., May 4, on U.S. 385 10.2 miles south of Springlake.

DPS said a 2017 Cadillac LL was traveling southbound on the highway, approaching a hill. A northbound 2015 Dodge Caravan attempted to pass a tractor-trailer in a no-passing zone, and the vehicles crested the hill simultaneously and collided head-on.

The Cadillac driver, Teresa Ledesma Gonzalez, 52, of Springlake, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Sandra Sanchez Duran Gonzalez, 54, of Hart, and Herlinda Guerrero, 58, of Springlake, who were passengers in the Cadillac, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Caravan driver, 61-year-old Rhonda Lynn Connor of Springlake, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
