Shala Morgan Killed in SW Austin Six-Vehicle Crash on Highway 71 near Covered Bridge

Austin, Texas (August 25, 2022) – A woman was killed early Monday morning in a six-vehicle crash in Southwest Austin, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 5:03 a.m., August 22, in the 600 block of Highway 71 near the intersection of Covered Bridge.

Police said a box truck was traveling eastbound on the highway approaching the intersection when the driver failed to slow down and crashed into five vehicles that were stopped at a red light.

One of the drivers, Shala Morgan, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
