El Paso, Texas – The man who was killed Saturday evening in a multi-vehicle crash in El Paso has been identified as Steve Carmona, 46, of El Paso, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened just before 5:00 p.m., March 23, at the Lee Trevino on-ramp on I-10 East.

Police said a 32-year-old man was driving a Dodge Ram when he hit his brakes due to congestion at the on-ramp.

A 19-year-old man was driving a Volkswagen Passat behind the Dodge and he changed lanes to avoid hitting the vehicle.

The Passat driver ended up striking a Hyundai Veloster in the next lane, causing it to hit the Dodge and a semi-truck.

The semi-truck blew its front tire and jackknifed. It also lost the load that it was carrying. This caused another chain reaction and Carmona was ejected. He was killed by the contents of the semi-truck.

A GoFundMe has been created to support Carmona’s family. To visit the GoFundMe, click here.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
