Summer Nichols Killed in Head-On Crash on Texas 62 in Orange County

Summer Nichols Killed in Orange County Two-Vehicle Crash on Texas 62

Orange County, Texas (September 5, 2020) – Two people were killed in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon in Orange County, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred around 4:15 p.m., September 3, in the 4000 block of Texas 62, north of FM 1078.

Police said a Chevrolet Impala was traveling northbound on the highway behind a Chevy pickup truck.

A Ford Fusion pickup was traveling southbound when it hydroplaned, sideswiped the Chevy pickup, and then crashed head-on into the Impala.

Investigators said weather was a factor in the crash.

The Impala driver, Summer Nichols, 18, of Orange County, and a passenger, Starr Jeanise, 21, of Orange, were killed in the crash.

The Ford driver was taken to a Southeast Texas hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
